Salvia ‘Rockin’ Fuchsia’ bunches its florets tighter

If you’re interested in offering hummingbird pots or building a hummingbird garden, be sure to include Salvia ‘Rockin’ Fuchsia’. This cultivar is brand new to the market, introduced only last year by Proven Winners. Large, bright pink trumpets are a big break from the usual blues and purples we see.

Guaranitica-style Salvia, or Anise-Flowered Sage, is popular right now partially due to its very stylish bloom that is cloaked in a dark hood called a calyx. No other flower looks like it, and none is as pink as ‘Rockin’ Fuchsia’. It’s a cool look and the plant also brings in the bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. To be honest, everyone talks about the ability to attract hummingbirds but ‘Rockin’ Fuchsia’ is unusually attractive to them. Let’s take a look at the reasons why this happens.

Spreading Petunia ‘Easy Wave Violet’

This year we’ve added two more colors to our production of the popular Easy Wave series of Petunias: Coral Reef and Violet. These two shades flank our existing Easy Wave Pink. Coral Reef is a softer and lighter pink, whereas Violet is darker with some blue mixed into it.

Just as a refresher, Easy Waves are the Petunias that mound and spread at the same time. You can expect the plants to grow about eight to ten inches in height. They have a spread or trail that runs out about 36 inches.

If you build baskets or containers that fill and spill with Petunias, you should consider working with the Easy Waves. This series is also dependable when it comes to mixing colors around in a design. An example would be the Easy Wave Beachcomber Mix, which blends a dark blue into two different colors of pink, one of which happens to be ‘Easy Wave Coral Reef’.

We also like Easy Waves because of their ability to handle swings in the seasonal temperatures. They generally don’t care if they grow in the spring or the summer, so you can use them to build Mother’s Day Baskets, Independence Day displays, or some attractive Labor Day arrangements.
