Impatiens Hangers Are Up
Impatiens in hanging baskets--always a great choice
By this, we mean sales. To our surprise, we’ve sold twice as many hanging baskets of impatiens in the past three years than the previous three years. We think several factors are at play here. Impatiens stay drier up-in-the-air rather than down-on-the-ground due to better air circulation.
People also don’t have the same expectation of hangers that they have of garden beds. Hangers tend to get replaced automatically every few months or so, much more frequently than garden beds do.
People still like the impatiens look A LOT, and nothing does that look better than impatiens. The demand is still there, and the desire is still strong. Hangers look great at the moment of sale, and they don’t hang around in the lot or the bench for very long.
So that explains the robust sales of impatiens hangers in our mind. That said, we don’t grow a lot of extra impatiens (of any size) for general availability. If you know you want them for this spring, you really should submit your order in January so we can reserve the crop for you.
