The Total Eclipse is today

Today’s Total Eclipse got us to thinking about autumn designs for sun. We’re coming up on that transition phase of late summer to fall, and we have a lot of color choices to get the creative wheels turning. Of course, we’ll have a full sun bed to show you here at Field Day, but you’ll have to wait and see on that one. 

Here comes the sun…and mums

There’s one more plant I’d like to mention for sun—mums. They’re on the horizon, and as you plan fall displays, it’s important to keep in mind how you might include them. While we stress creativity a lot, we do realize that classics are classics for a reason and many clients like to stick with tradition.

Go beyond traditional harvest shades

Pick up the challenge and separate tradition from stale this year. We’re starting to get in serious autumn décor mode so we’ll see what other ideas we can come up with in the coming weeks, and we expect you’ll be doing the same.

Field Day is Wednesday

Reminder: Come rain or shine, Field Day 2017 will take place on Wednesday, August 23rd, right here at Diefenbacher Greenhouses. As we tour our beautiful Display Gardens—and the special one prepared by the UC Horticulture students—I’ll give you the lowdown on what we planted and why. Have your questions ready because I’m itching to talk plants.  

Wicked Hickory will be here again, serving up their sweet and tender, smoky barbecue specialties so we can wind down and fuel up—depending on which session you’re attending. Bring your appetite!

Admission for Field Day is $5, which includes lunch and our handy Display Garden Planner for easy note taking. Registration for the Morning Session starts at 9:30AM and registration for the Afternoon Session begins at 12:30PM.
