True Blue: Lobelia Early Springs
Eye-catching ‘Early Springs Dark Blue’
True blue flowers are eye-catching and they’re also rare, which makes us value them even more. Lobelia is one source of this elusive color that landscapers turn to again and again because it’s so reliable—I suppose you could say it’s a true-blue true blue.
Our Early Springs lobelia from Ball FloraPlant has been bred for improved heat tolerance, so it flowers profusely from early spring right on into the warm days of early summer, even blooming in full sun. Unlike other vigorous basket lobelias, these plants have an upright, controlled habit that makes them very manageable in small containers and smaller mixed combinations.
‘Early Springs White’ has a touch of dark blue
Colors in this series are nicely matched, so we can use them together for an eye-catching all-lobelia display. ‘Dark Blue’ is a deep, dark blue with tiny white eyes, plus we have two new varieties this year: ‘Sky Blue’—a pretty pale blue with white eyes, and cool, clean ‘White’ with a hint of dark blue in the eye.
