Bidens Beedance Series
‘Red Stripe’
Pardon the pun, but pollinator has become a buzzword of late. We’ve all come to realize the importance of protecting and nurturing our bees, butterflies, and other beneficial creatures so they can keep on hustling from plant to plant to get the job done. As a result of this newfound awareness, plants that attract these hard little workers have risen in popularity.
Our new bidens series—Beedance—falls right in line with the trend. These unique bicolors emit a soft honey fragrance and have a high nectar level so bees and butterflies flock to them in window boxes, hanging baskets, and pots on the patio. Currently there are two varieties of this innovative series; while each is striking when used alone, we like adding them to combinations because they get along so well with other plants:
‘Red Stripe’ has bright yellow flowers with a wide red stripe down the center of each petal. You’ll notice that the stripe becomes more prominent in cooler weather; when temperatures are warm the flowers gravitate toward the yellow. This selection is slightly more compact than its counterpart.
Blooms on ‘Painted Red’ follow a different pattern: red petals surround a glowing yellow center. Weather affects these flowers as well: in cooler temperatures they can appear to be solid red-orange. This variety has the more intense honey scent of the two.

Both Beedance selections are easy to grow and bloom continuously from spring through fall. They come in the 4.5-inch pot.
