Rex Begonia Jurassic Series

FN 1.5 BEG Jurassic Green Streak 0002
‘Jurassic Green Streak’

With large leaves in bold patterns, interesting shapes, and striking colors Rex begonias hardly seem like begonias at all—they’re all about the foliage with nary a bloom in sight. These are plants we keep in the design tool box as vibrant, low-maintenance options for deep shade.

Our new selections from the Jurassic series are truly unique, with unusual veining and puckering that creates an abundance of texture in addition to the wild configurations of color. We like to use one as a starting point and build a design around its intriguing palette:

‘Green Streak’ is elegant and edgy—silver-green leaves have a rosy-pink blush and are veined in dark green.

FN 1.4 BEG Jurassic Pink Shades 0001
Polka-dotted ‘Pink Shades’

‘Pink Shades’ comes decorated for a party—deep rose-pink leaves have pink polka-dotted dark brown edges.

FN 1.3 BEG Jurassic Red Splash 0001
Freckled ‘Red Splash’

‘Red Splash’ combines exotic flair with a hint of rustic charm—deep red leaves have freckled silver-green bands and matching deep red edges.

FN 1.2 BEG Jurassic Silver Point 0001 copy
Compelling ‘Silver Point’

‘Silver Point’ is a thriller in black and white—dark black leaves have pointed edges and wide silver-green margins that highlight their compelling shape.

FN 1.1 BEG Jurassic Watermelon 0001
‘Watermelon’—a remarkable resemblance

‘Watermelon’ defies explanation—large leaves look like slices of watermelon with white speckles in the green, just for fun.

These plants were bred to be vigorous and continue to mound as they grow, creating an impressive display in the landscape. They prefer humid shade and rich, aerated soil like you’d find on the forest floor.

All of our Jurassic selections are available in the 4.5-inch pot size.
